Privacy policy

What we collect, why, who else sees it, and how to make us stop. Written to be read rather than to be survived, because a policy nobody reads protects nobody.

The short version

  • We collect what you type into a form on this site. Beyond that we count visits with a cookieless tool that cannot identify you. There is no advertising and no cross-site tracking on this website.
  • We use it to answer your enquiry and to arrange your travel. That is all.
  • We do not sell it, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.
  • You can ask us to show it to you, correct it, or delete it, at any time, by writing to zaratravels54@gmail.com.

Who is responsible

The data fiduciary

Zara Hajj & Umrah Services, Hi-Point Elite, Shop No. 6, Katpadi Shirva Main Road, Shankarpura, Udupi District, Karnataka - 574115, is the data fiduciary for the personal data described here. In the language of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, that means we decide why and how your data is used, and we are the ones answerable for it.

Contact us about anything on this page by email at zaratravels54@gmail.com, by phone on +91 91874 63454, or in person at the office.

What we collect

Everything, itemised

If it is not on this list, this website does not collect it.

Personal data collected, where, and why
WhatWhereWhy
Your name and phone number or emailThe quotation form, and the enquiry that follows a package searchSo we can send you a quotation and answer your questions
Travel details: departure city, dates, number of travellers, budget levelThe search panel and the quotation formSo the quotation reflects the trip you actually want
Accessibility and health notes, and the ages of children travellingThe 'anything we should know' box, and the wheelchair and elderly-traveller optionsSo we can book suitable hotels, transport and assistance. You never have to give us this, and a quotation is possible without it
Your email addressThe subscribe box in the footerTo send you seasonal rates and booking windows, and nothing else

Searching for a package on this site collects nothing. The search puts your criteria in the address bar so the results page can read them; it creates no record with us until you send an enquiry.

Health, accessibility and children. Notes about a wheelchair, an elderly parent or a child’s age are sensitive, and we treat them that way. They are used only to book what you need, are never used for marketing, and are given only to the airline, hotel or transport provider who has to know. If a child under 18 is travelling, we take those details from the parent or guardian who is making the booking.

What we do not collect. No passport numbers, photographs or vaccination certificates are collected through this website. Those are needed for a visa application, and they are handled directly with you at the office or over WhatsApp once you decide to book.

Our basis

Consent, and only for what you asked

We process your data on the basis of your consent, given by ticking the box on the form before you send it. That consent covers replying to your enquiry, preparing a quotation, and arranging the travel you asked about.

It does not extend to anything else. We will not add you to a mailing list because you asked for a quotation, and we will not use your enquiry to market a different service to you.

You can withdraw consent at any time by writing to zaratravels54@gmail.com. It is as easy to withdraw as it was to give.

Who else sees it

Every third party, named

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

  • WhatsApp (Meta). Most people contact us on WhatsApp, and several buttons here open a WhatsApp message with your details already typed. Anything you send that way is also handled by Meta under their own terms. If you would rather not use WhatsApp, email or phone us instead.
  • Our email and enquiry systems. Enquiries sent from this site reach us through an email or workflow provider acting on our instructions.
  • Airlines, hotels and transport providers. Once you book, we pass on what they need to carry and accommodate you, and no more.
  • Saudi authorities. A visa or permit application is made to them with the documents they require. That is unavoidable, and it is the point of the service.
  • The prayer-times API. The strip at the top of the page fetches prayer times from api.aladhan.com directly from your browser, so that service sees your IP address. It receives nothing else, and nothing you type.
  • Vercel. This website is hosted by Vercel, who also provide the cookieless visit counting described under cookies and measurement. As our host they necessarily process requests to the site, including IP addresses, on our behalf.

Cookies and measurement

No cookies, no profile

This website sets no cookies and carries no advertising or social media tracking pixels. Nobody is building a profile of you here, and nothing follows you to other websites.

What we do measure. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to count how many people visit each page, how many tap the WhatsApp or call buttons, and how quickly pages load. It is cookieless: it stores nothing on your device and does not identify you or link your visits together across days or sites. We see totals for a page, never a person.

We keep this because it tells us which pages actually help people get in touch, and because a slow page is a page nobody reads. If you would rather not be counted at all, most browsers’ “do not track” and content-blocking settings will stop it, and nothing on this site will break.

The one thing stored on your device is a small preference in your browser’s local storage, remembering an item you have ticked off the packing checklist. It never leaves your device and we cannot read it. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Typefaces are served from this website itself rather than fetched from Google, so loading a page here does not tell Google that you visited.

How long

Retention

Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept for up to three years from your last contact with us, because pilgrims often come back a season or two later and expect us to remember the conversation. After that they are deleted.

Booking records are kept as long as tax and travel-industry rules require, and then deleted.

If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we will, unless we are legally required to keep a particular record.

Your rights

What you can require of us

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Access
Ask what personal data of yours we hold and what we have done with it.
Correction
Have anything wrong or incomplete put right.
Erasure
Ask us to delete it, unless we are required by law to keep it.
Withdraw consent
As easily as you gave it. Tell us and we stop, though it does not undo processing already done.
Grievance
Complain to us first. We must respond, and the contact is below.
Nominate
Name someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become incapacitated.

To exercise any of these, write to zaratravels54@gmail.com or call +91 91874 63454. We will respond as quickly as we can, and we will not charge you for it.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a complaint, you may take it to the Data Protection Board of India.

Changes

When this page changes

If we change how we handle your data, this page changes with it and the date below is updated. We will not quietly widen what we do with data already collected.
